“Overnight success” doesn’t exist

by Ethan on January 5, 2009

The term “overnight success” was dreamed up by journalists and media outlets as a lead-in to a story and as entrepreneurs or students or athletes, none of us should believe the hype.

Success comes when no one is watching… when you’re putting in the hours and hard work that never gets noticed.  Just because a writer wanted to make his/her story standout by labeling success an “overnight success” doesn’t mean you should buy into it… and the below commercial featuring Michael Jordan exemplifies this belief.

No one was watching Jordan practice day in and day out, night after night in middle school… they just watched him after his hard work began bearing fruit.  Put in the work and the success will come… no matter what kind of success they call it.
