Career Renegade is a book that was written by Jonathan Fields about following your passions to the career of your dreams. It is a very practical, well written and highly usable book that will help you to figure out what “turns you on” and then in turn, how to take that passion and turn it into a viable business. The story would have stopped there but Jonathan did something that I don’t think any other author has as a way to encourage sales of his book. He created a social network page for the book called Career Renegade Flight School on Ning.com (a social networking site that anyone can create a private or public group on). On this member only site (you have to buy the book before gaining access), Jonathan breaks down the chapters further via video screen casts, message board posts, audio interviews, videos and group conference calls with specific / concrete examples of his ideas in action out in the wild.
As someone who has been eating up all of the “Internet Marketers” sales letters, sales processes and some course material, I have found that my $12 spent on this book which includes the member only site and additional information that Jonathan provides to be the best return-on-investment in terms of gaining the knowledge needed for my wife and I to start (and hopefully succeed at) “The Business”. Below you’ll find a video of Jonathan critiquing a website, its copy and sales process that I found to be very helpful. In the members area you’ll find many more videos like this. It’s a cutting edge concept that I think we’ll see more authors taking advantage of in the future IF they’re willing to “pay it forward” a bit to encourage book sales.
