Pics from Northern California

by Ethan on July 27, 2009

Hey everyone… haven’t posted in a while… we’ve been traveling and also working on The Business which is now in beta testing with close to 60 members!… busy to say the least.

Anyway, wanted to put these three photos up from our trip… one from San Francisco and the other two from our ride down Route 1 along the Pacific coast in Big Sur… and yes, all three were taken with my iPhone!

Sadie and Griffin…

by Ethan on June 15, 2009

The below pic is Sadie and her buddy Griffin in Prospect Park Brooklyn before 9am on Saturday (when they can be off leash) and just after getting out of the pond where dogs are allowed to swim… she really likes to swim!

…the below pic was taken on a hike while we were in the New Paltz area of NY this past weekend while our apartment was being painted. Needless to say, Sadie loved it AND did the full swim in the lake you see in the background of the pic below.

The New Yorker cover drawn on an iPhone

by Ethan on May 28, 2009

What a cool video… check it out below. That’s of an artist drawing the current cover of The New Yorker magazine on an iPhone while he stood on 42nd Street in Manhattan. There are two articles: HERE and HERE talking about the artist and the developer of the iPhone app used to create this image… very cool indeed.  What will they think up next?

The Intro of our E-Learning Module

by Ethan on May 26, 2009

Phew… what a couple weeks of long hours and work it has been but finally, after staying up until after 2am last night with our developer, we have our E-Learning Module up and running on our site!

You can view the introduction HERE.

Love to know what you think… and yes, those are our voices but I don’t have that kind of hair in my “cartoon” image… used to but not anymore. Steph’s image is pretty spot on though:).

Also, we have put a page on our site that is the complete outline of our training module… this lays out everything that we teach via the module based on our 20+ combined years of experience working as assistants. You can see that page HERE.

We’re not launched yet but after some testing and such, we’re getting REALLY close… as always, I’ll keep you posted.

ProAssisting’s launch is delayed

by Ethan on April 30, 2009

Yep, you read that right.

Unfortunately, we have to push the opening of our program by a couple weeks for two specific reasons… one that I can tell you about and explain while the other is still under wraps.

You can read how we are making the announcement over at ProAssisting’s site by clicking HERE.

As for the reason that I can tell you about, it turns out that the production of our e-learning module is a wee bit more intense than we thought (a good thing) and is going to take an extra week to get it complete. The module looks AMAZING and we couldn’t be happier with how things are going (other than the delay) and are sure the wait will be worth it.

Now, as for the reason that I can’t tell you about, I’ll at least give you a bit of a hint… we have come up with a “perfect partner” for our service that could have the ability to put us on the map in a big way right out of the gate. That said, we need to have our program complete before we approach this potential partner so they can view the whole package… you always want to put your best foot forward when approaching someone with an idea and so we’re waiting on the e-learning module to be ready before making the offer. Make sense?

If this partnership doesn’t work out, I will tell you the whole story and if it DOES work out, you’ll know right away when you visit our site.

Sorry about the lack of specific posts about “The Business” as of late; we’ve been putting our effort into getting the word out. But I can assure you that after we’re launched, I have some more “inside info” about the process and marketing that I’m looking forward to sharing so please stay tuned.

You know you’re from Canandaigua when:

by Ethan on April 28, 2009

1. No one has any idea how to pronounce your town’s name
2. We don’t have an accent, you do!
3. No one believes your town actually exists
4. For the rest of your life when you see the initials “CA” you automatically think “Canandaigua”
5. You knew how to spell “Canandaigua” before you learned how to spell “banana” correctly without sounding it out
6. Your town is ranked one of the Top 10 coldest places in the nation every winter
7. Kids in other states who had only a dusting of snow have their schools close for a week but your town gets 3 feet of snow and your still having to walk, drive, or bus your way to school
8. You can drive 65mph without flinching in 3 feet of snow
9. It can be –20 degrees one day and 70 the next and no one thinks anything of it
10. 99% of accidents are caused by deer, not snow
11. There are two kinds of drivers in your town, those who have hit a deer and those who are going to
12. You had to learn how to drive before you were 16 because your friends lived on the other side of the county and your parents didn’t want to drive your butt to see them
13. You tried to find different routes to get to the mall or to the city and when you did, you timed yourself and every time tried to break your own record
14. At any given time you can find 20 cops on 332 because they have nothing better to do then enforce the 30mph speed limit
15. Your town has an equal number of bars and churches
16. You know what “Ra-cha-cha” means
17. “The city” to you means, “Rochester”
18. The weekend hangout spots are: other people’s homes, Denny’s, Wegmans, the movies, the Pier, and that’s about it
19. You spend the first 18 years of your life wanting to get the heck out of town and vow you’ll never come back
20. In the summer, you spent your time on the Lake with friends
21. When you hear the term “Ring of Fire” you don’t think “Lord of the Rings”
22. Hands down the colors of Fall on the Lake is the best in the State
23. You know what the Finger Lakes are and where they’re located on the map
24. You know what the heck the meaning is behind those merry-go-round horses around town (if you don’t, Ask your parents)
25. You know what a “red hot” and a “white hot” is and can’t believe you can’t order them anywhere else in the country
26. There are sometimes more tractors on the roads then cars
27. Anything past Pennsylvania is considered “down south”
28. Some of your greatest memories as a teen were spent on the lawn of the FLCC Amphitheatre with friends
29. You find out there’s a Wegmans being built in your city three states away and start telling all your friends and neighbors about how it is the “Mecca of all grocery stores”
30. You go out of your way when you’re out of state to show your friends that the infamous Wild Irish Rose and Arbor Mist is bottled in our town (to prove the town’s existence).
31. For the rest of your life when you hear the “Star Spangled Banner” you will always want to yell “Braves” at the end.
32. You have kids of your own and finally realize…it wasn’t so bad after all…in fact, it was a pretty cool place to grow up.

by Ethan on April 20, 2009

The below video is of Sadie frolicking in the snow in our back yard and in the sand out on Fire Island in February… video might be a little long but her parents are just fine with that:
