The classic Bassomatic. This bit still holds up after all these years… maybe it’s because we’re still bombarded with such infomercials every Saturday and Sunday morning. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Hat tip to Seth Nickerson for the reminder.
Blackberry maker Research in Motion just released the first of what I expect to be many shots directly over the bow of Apple and their iPhone… this is going to get ugly…
UPDATE: Research in Motion has decided NOT to run the below add… that was fast.
Career Renegade is a book that was written by Jonathan Fields about following your passions to the career of your dreams. It is a very practical, well written and highly usable book that will help you to figure out what “turns you on” and then in turn, how to take that passion and turn it into a viable business. And no, I’m not an affiliate nor would I make any money should you click on the above link and buy the book from Amazon.
The story would have stopped there but Jonathan did something that I don’t think any other author has as a way to encourage sales of his book. He created a social network page for the book called Career Renegade Flight School on Ning.com (a social networking site that anyone can create a private or public group on). On this member only site (you have to buy the book before gaining access), Jonathan breaks down the chapters further via video screen casts, message board posts, audio interviews, videos and group conference calls with specific / concrete examples of his ideas in action out in the wild.
As someone who has been eating up all of the “Internet Marketers” sales letters, sales processes and some course material, I have found that my $12 spent on this book which includes the member only site and additional information that Jonathan provides to be the best return-on-investment in terms of gaining the knowledge needed for my wife and I to start (and hopefully succeed at) “The Business”. Below you’ll find a video of Jonathan critiquing a website, its copy and sales process that I found to be very helpful. In the members area you’ll find many more videos like this. It’s a cutting edge concept that I think we’ll see more authors taking advantage of in the future IF they’re willing to “pay it forward” a bit to encourage book sales.
Basically, it breaks down the difference between the “Cool kids” and the “Internet Marketers”… Personally, with The Business, we’re trying to be neither but… we want the cache of the “cool kids” combined with the income of the “Internet Marketers”… and so the beat goes on. Check it out if your interest is piqued.
Placing a dollar figure on a blog, as in how much it’s worth, is a tricky game but that didn’t stop 24/7 Wall St. from giving it a try. CLICK HERE to see their list of 25 most valuable blogs.
Wonder how much createabull.com is wroth… never mind.
I love getting Seth Godin’s blog posts emailed to me every day and today is a very special day for Seth… his 3,000th blog post. What an accomplishment.
If you’re as interested in marketing, Internet marketing, blogging and the like, you should check out his blog and get his posts delivered to you. And since today’s all about Seth, below you can find a short video of him explaining his thoughts about social networking and small business.
I guess those nights, mornings and weekends REALLY paid off… and since then he’s quit his job and is focussing on programming for the iPhone full time. Take that, recession!
Academic Earth is a site that shows class lectures and courses from Yale, Harvard, MIT, Stanford, Princeton and Berkeley FOR FREE.
I’m going to partake in the lectures about entrepreneurship and the web but if mathematics, medicine, law or political science is your thing, there are videos there for you too.
The below video is a great example of where technology is going to be taking us in the coming years. Here is a description of the video:
The iPill comes in the form of an 11 x 26 mm capsule. It incorporates a microprocessor, battery, pH sensor, temperature sensor, RF wireless transceiver, fluid pump and drug reservoir. It communicates via its wireless transceiver to a control unit outside the body. The transceiver is currently operating in ISM frequencies. This video shows the fluid pump in action. For demonstration purposes, the dispensed substance is blue liquid.
Here’s the video:
Next, after a baby is born, the doctor will ask, “Sir (or Ma’am), would you like a PC or Mac chip implanted in your newborn?”
